Red Devils & Rhubarb

Apples-in-veg-garden Harvest time in the garden as well as beyond…and lots of fruit on the trees, these are Red Devils, the stuff of fairy-tales as far as apples are concerned.

broccoli-1 Emerged from several weeks of work in the studio to find everything flourishing remarkably well, we even have broccoli which has survived the caterpillars intact

herb-garden The herb garden, completely overgrown with native perennials, culinary and medicinal which, even if we don’t use them all, the wildlife does; we counted 48 bumble bees on one tall teasel plant the other day, everyone should plant some.

harvest-in-vegetable-garden  …and plenty left for human consumption too, where nature is concerned it seems like a bit of neglect pays off sometimes!

Harvest Time

harvest-1 Hard to imagine that there were floods everywhere this time last year…

Harvest-2 …and that it took many men many days to harvest these fields only a few decades ago. Yesterday all this was done by the large estate Klaas Combine in a matter of hours.

Austin-in-Wellington-Barracks One of several drawings from the barracks, featuring Austin, who else! Somehow this ended up being the only ‘drawing’ to be included in the Allanton exhibition but there will certainly be more to follow in preparation for the book and, possibly, a touring exhibition in 2014.

Where Am I?
