Apples-in-veg-garden Harvest time in the garden as well as beyond…and lots of fruit on the trees, these are Red Devils, the stuff of fairy-tales as far as apples are concerned.

broccoli-1 Emerged from several weeks of work in the studio to find everything flourishing remarkably well, we even have broccoli which has survived the caterpillars intact

herb-garden The herb garden, completely overgrown with native perennials, culinary and medicinal which, even if we don’t use them all, the wildlife does; we counted 48 bumble bees on one tall teasel plant the other day, everyone should plant some.

harvest-in-vegetable-garden  …and plenty left for human consumption too, where nature is concerned it seems like a bit of neglect pays off sometimes!

harvest-1 Hard to imagine that there were floods everywhere this time last year…

Harvest-2 …and that it took many men many days to harvest these fields only a few decades ago. Yesterday all this was done by the large estate Klaas Combine in a matter of hours.

Austin-in-Wellington-Barracks One of several drawings from the barracks, featuring Austin, who else!
